Somehow between Saturday afternoon and Sunday night, my belly popped out of nowhere. That is no exaggeration, either. On Saturday, someone probably never would have guessed I was even pregnant. On Sunday after church, my stomach inflated like a balloon and by Monday morning I was getting more comments than ever about how big I got! But it is definitely exciting to see myself grow.

I'm getting more and more anxious as time passes, because I want to see his sweet face! I have had heartburn since my 5th week of being pregnant (which I consistently hear is strange, seeing as most women don't get it until their 30th week or something). And I have been told heartburn means a fluffy head of hair on a newborn baby. We will see! Today I am 17 weeks. In this picture I am 16 and a half weeks.

Derek and I found out on May 1st, 2009 that we are pregnant with a little Hargrove! We feel we have been so blessed to have this baby come down and join our family. We found out on Saturday, July 18 that we are having a boy! It took some fishing around to find his "parts" but he gave up and spread 'em wide so we can see him in all his glory. We are thinking of naming him Hunter Scout Hargrove. It will be a big name to live up to, so hopefully he has Derek's figure instead of mine. Our official due date is January 10, 2010. Being born in 2010, he will think the 1980's was soooo long ago, seeing as that's when Derek and I were born. Crazy how times change, and how they change so quickly and without warning! Life in El Paso is good, even though the culture here is...interesting. We are looking to buy a house in the next few months; it can be stressful and exhausting looking for houses but it is also an activity we have enjoyed. Lately we're into Harry Potter and have been having "Harry Potter Marathons"...trying to catch up so we can see the latest movie, which looks excellent! There is so much more happening with the Hargrove Family but so little time to write it all! I will post pictures soon of my 4 month pregnant belly for everyone to see!

The best day of our lives.

How It All Began...

Derek and I met Sunday, June 12, 2005. We were in the same single's ward in Albuquerque, NM. I had just graduated high school and Derek had just returned from his mission to Japan 6 months before. He was currently attending BYU, but took a summer to sell security systems with his friends. Thankfully, their group of friends were sent to Albuquerque, which is where our story begins.

Derek was asked to give a talk in church on Father's Day. In his talk, he mentioned how his dad would grill steaks for their family on Father's Day. As he said this, the girl behind me said, "Mmm, steak." Her comment made me laugh and at the same time I laughed, Derek shot a glance at me from the pulpit. I felt so bad that he thought I was making fun of him in his talk, so I was determined to apologize after sacrament meeting. As I approached him to apologize, he looked confused and said he didn't even hear me laugh. He left for Sunday School. After church, he came up to me and asked if I'd like to go to his friends' apartment to play games. All the girls in my group of friends were upset because Derek was the Golden Boy of the ward and somehow, I won him over. What I didn't realize was, Derek had his eye on me for months before, but never mustered up the courage to talk to me. When I apologized after his talk, he said he wasn't prepared for me to talk to him first, so he was nervous. But I guess that gave him the courage to ask me to play games later.

We dated until the end of the summer, when I left for Eastern Arizona College and he returned to BYU. We were devastated to be apart, but a long distance relationship wasn't really in the cards for us just then. We drifted apart for almost 3 years. March 15, 2008, I got a text message from a familiar number. It was Derek! He wanted to see how I was doing in life. I told him I was headed to BYU in the summer and he was thrilled. He dropped his plans of selling security systems in New York so he could be in Utah when I'd be there. We were married in the Mesa Arizona Temple on November 1st, 2008. We were meant to be together.
